So, I just had to reply to your comment since it really touched and me and struck me and I felt bad since I didn't say anything. ;~; I'm really happy with the way you imagine the world that this fic is set in - that's what I was going for. There's a certain kind of agony in waiting and being unaware, which is why people's lives seem to be drawn into the war even though they don't really know what's happening. Everyone's waiting for something, but no one knows what that something is. Like you said, it could be someone's departure, someone's death, etc. It's all part of the uncertainty that the people who are left behind have.
I definitely agree with you that warcraft has really changed nowadays. With the help of technology in media, what happens on the front line of a war is definitely more visible today than it was during...like WW2 for example. All the violence, destruction, and chaos is readily available to us for our viewing - it wasn't like that back then. Even though I didn't live back then, it's how I imagine it from what I know of it, and I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. :))
Thank you so much for your comment. I always like to see what people think of my writing and how they conceptualize and analyze all the words I've strung together. :)
