I gotta say that I just realised what the biggest feat of this fic is, in my opinion.
I realised it at the point where Yunho and Jaejoong were lying down together, and Jaejoong realised how he doesn't need to say anything, since love doesn't need words all the time... I also understood that the image I have of this fic is exactly that; quiet. It's like these people are living on, kind of only half awake, only to be startled into full conciousness when someone talks to them. The war is somewhere far away, far enough that only distant noises can be heard (figuratively speaking); but on the other hand, it's too near, making them all live in this state of constant waiting, and fear (but waiting and uncertainty being even more strongly present than fear). And I think this is quite brilliant: because even though war is all happenings and events, I think, what it really does to a society, is still it. Nothing really progresses, everyone is always waiting for something; for a new turn in the battle, for news from the front about their close ones, or, like Jaejoong, for the inevitable of one of their beloved ones leaving.
At least this is the image I have of older wars, I guess warcraft might have changed too much nowadays. And the quietness is not the only image I have of the atmosphere of this fic; it's also kinda colorless. It's just, grey, and not really scary, but scary because it's so still and silent, like a calm before the storm. Then someone like Minah appears for a while and gives the world color, until a news report on the TV paints it grey again.
Idk, I have a pretty strong mental image of this fic and this world o___o
